MoneyThe currency unit is the Cambodian riel, but both riel and US dollars are used across the country. Credit cards are accepted in major hotels, but rarely elsewhere, even in the capital city, Phnom Penh. Four automated banking machines have just been installed in each of the Canadia Bank branches in Phnom Penh where Visa and Mastercard credit cards can be used to make withdrawals. Traveler's checks are accepted basically only in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, and a minimum commission of 4 percent is often charged.
